Grown in our Valencian fields
The organic tiger nut from Valencia is our most special product. With this crop, we seek not only produce the very best tiger nuts but also to take care of the environment and preserve biodiversity.
We believe that growing organic tiger nuts is not a mere return to the origins, but the future of the Valencian agriculture. It helps to maintain its traditions, understanding better the interactions of nature and ensuring the sustainability of the agrarian system.
The production process of Valencian organic tiger nuts is lengthier and more laborious than that of the conventional tiger nuts because its cultivation is free of pesticides, herbicides and products obtained from chemical synthesis. This entails the manual removal of weeds and to use natural preventive strategies to control pests. Furthermore, the fields need a careful organic fertilizing approach using green manure and fallow time.
Organic tiger nuts have abundant health benefits, in fact, there are new studies made continuously that show and prove these. Tiger nuts are a great source of minerals, such as potassium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, sodium, iron and zinc, as well as unsaturated fats, proteins, and vitamins C and E and folic acid. In addition, they are rich in resistant starch and fibre and are also a great energy source.
It is recommended to store organic tiger nut in a cool and dry place, being the ideal temperature below 8ºC and they must be kept away from direct sunlight. Another solution for its storage is vacuum packing which we also offer. If tiger nuts are well stored they do not lose their properties and the shelf life can extend up to two years after the packaging date.
Our organic Valencian tiger nuts are certified by the public Committee of Organic Agriculture of the Valencian Community that periodically evaluates and examines our production and by the Protected Designation of Origin Regulatory Council, which controls authenticity as well as a set of quality standards imposed for all companies working with this particular product. In addition, our company has a certified HACCP System and we are working on the IFS certification.
